Gothica Plagueworlds – Necro Plague Heart Illustration and Concept

Recent illustration and design work produced for a Table Top RPG called Gothica Plagueworlds. The client requested a prop based on the idea of a mutated heart based on the themes of Necromancy, the Undead and Trypophobia. In canon these hearts are mutated and the source of a particular plague in the world of Gothica Plagueworlds.

Plaguehearts
Plagues have spread to man, woman, fauna and flora. The source of these plagues were not always known, that was until the discovery of the plagueheart. A manifestation of creature and mutation, the plagueheart can be either figurative or a literal organ of corruption. These concentrated containers of calamity provide the sickness to flow freely throughout the plaguelands in which they reside. Destroying a plagueheart is the only known way to completely rid the world of the diseases that have manifested within these lands. Not a task many have ever completed as they are often guarded by an abhorrent beast, malignant flora or undying wretch, these plaguehearts twin themselves with their protectors, in some cases once belonging to their timeless caretakers.
